Happy Snow Day

Winter has finally decided to grace us with her presence. We're cozy here in the Easton Place studio. We're busy filling orders, mailing holiday gifts and writing thank you notes to include in each order. I decided to take a moment from the buzz of holiday orders to appreciate the work Mother Nature was doing outside.

Happy Tuesday, friends! Wishing you a cozy day.

Homemade Menorahs - DIY

It's been a very festive holiday season here at Easton Place Designs. I thought it would be fun to show you some menorahs my youngest son made (with a little tiny help from his Mama). All of the materials were purchased at Home Depot except for the glue-gun which was purchased at a craft shop.

We started with...
Stones, tiles and glass backsplash pieces. Regular metal nuts.
Step one is to take the stones and tiles off their mesh backing removing as much of the adhesive as possible. Next, layout your design on the base plate to make sure things will fit properly. Once you're happy with the design, remove items from your base plate and start adhering the nuts to the "rocks" and square tiles and rebuilding your design, gluing/adhering each piece. The only part I helped my son with was affixing the thinner glass piece to the larger glass base piece. For this I used super glue. All other pieces were fastened using either the hot glue gun or "Strongstik" by Dap.

Here are the final menorahs...

Happy Hanukkah!

Wishing you all a very happy and festive holiday!

Cute #JingleTweet Logo

Before I remind you of of this week's giveaway, I want to say a special thank you to the lovely ladies of Quintessence Blog and Ridgely's Radar. Stacey and Ridgely hosted an amazing holiday (JingleTweet) party on Thursday night at The Audiocom Group. The evening was perfect with great gifts, delicious food and drink, an amazing venue, lovely guests and of course the very gracious hostesses. When you have a moment, please be sure to stop by Quintessence and Ridgely's Radar. You can follow Stacey, Ridgely and The Audiocom Group on twitter as well!

Starting Monday, December 12, with every purchase of stationery from my online shop OR my etsy shop, you'll receive a complimentary Staedtler Triplus Fineliner pen! I've been using these marker pens for a while and I love them! Head over to my shop or my etsy and pick up a few sets of stationery for yourself (remember to write those thank you notes after the holidays!) or others on your gift giving list. Each set will come with a lovely marker.

Are We There Yet? - Free Printables

Some of my fondest memories of the holiday season (or any season for that matter) were the car rides to my Nanny & Pa-pa's house. If memory serves me correctly, the trip was about 2 hours by car. I believe it was initially my brother and sister who started the chant, "That's not Nanny's... That's not Nanny's...That's not Nanny's..." while pointing at every house along the way. And I've been told that the chant began anywhere between 20 and 40 minutes into the trip. It is that fun memory that inspired me to create my first set of free printables from Easton Place Designs. It's my way of saying thank you and happy holidays. Enjoy!

New at Easton Place Designs: Custom Web Design

It's been over a month since my last post.  As you may have guessed, much has been happening at Easton Place Designs.  I'm thrilled to share with you the latest creations and ventures!  First up are the newest services offered at EPD... Web Design!  Actually, in all honesty, I should say I now offer web design elements.  This includes logo design, blog banners, blog buttons, ad buttons, etsy banners, blog backgrounds etc.  I started this side of design several months ago when I created a blog and etsy banner for my friend, Kelly Jo Guastello at Purple Vine Design.  From there I created my own etsy banner, twitter background, facebook button and all the design pieces on my e-commerce site, Easton Place Designs.  Most recently my lovely (and quite funny) friend, Kathryn Doran of "The Coastal Chic", asked me to design elements for her newest blog venture, "The Saucy Bits".  I had so much fun with Kathryn and her fellow "Saucy Broads"!  Go check her out... on both of her blogs!

The next item of business I'd like to share with you is my line of holiday cards.  I'd love to say I have photos of everything as well as have them available for purchase on my sites, but that's a few days away.  Until then, have a peek at one of the newest designs...

Coming soon!

Holiday cards will be offered as single cards and boxed sets.  Photocards will be offered in sets of 25.  Launch date is set for Monday, November 1, 2010!

Autumn Has Arrived (sort of)

Technically speaking, it is officially Autumn. Weather-wise, um, not-so-much. Today in New England it was a lovely 82 degrees and the weatherman says warmer and more humidity for tomorrow. That stated, the trees, squirrels and geese know the seasons have changed. Everywhere I look I note shades of Autumn color on the treetops. The squirrels have been busy digging in the garden, finding that perfect hiding spot for Winter's culinary treasures. The Canada Geese can been seen (and heard) flying in their perfect "V" formation as they make their way to a warmer climate.

This imagery brings me to some of my latest card designs.  I recently had the honor of creating a custom design for a business that specializes in the humane removal of Canada Geese by using canines.  The owner of the company had received a business holiday card last year from a client of mine. She contacted me this Summer asking if I could create a holiday cards unique to her business. Here is the finished product. I especially love the look of it with the rhubarb colored envelopes! The order was complete with coordinating, round return address labels.

More and more companies are sending appreciation cards during the Thanksgiving season which is smart and thoughtful business! Here are some of the other Autumn designs you can find in my shop. If you send out business "holiday cards" perhaps you'll consider sending Thanksgiving cards instead. My clients who do so report a lot of positive feedback!
